First of all, I want to apologize…your girl has been busy! Work, life, volunteering, and running has taken. So, the blog posts have been few and far between. Instead of weekly posts, I have barely been able to squeak out something every two weeks. If for some reason you have really been missing my blog posts know that I am working on it. Hopefully, once May and June wrap up I should have some more time.
Ok, on to the real reason we are all here – I COMPLETED MY FIRST HALF MARATHON [cue the band, balloons, confetti, cheers, etc.] In the last 2 weeks of my training I really wasn’t sure if I was going to make it…see my last post for more information. However, I did my best…even with all the odds stacked against me!
With a new year there comes new goals and resolutions to make 2019 the best year yet. No matter whether you call them goals, aspirations, or resolutions it doesn’t matter. They allow you to work toward something and (hopefully) feel a sense of achievement this time next year.
I decided to share my resolutions with all of you this year so I have some accountability. I have some big ones to check off the list and I want to make sure I am able to get them done. As I work my way through the resolutions I will make sure to report back – good or bad I will let you know how they go!
This past Sunday I ran my first 10K!! I have been working on my running over the past few months and completed a 5K not too long along. I was working toward this particular 10K because I feel like if you are from Maryland this is the one to do – Across the Bay 10K.
So…I have started running…like officially! If you saw my Austin post you will know it all started in a hotel gym where I just “tried” to run. And, as it turns out I didn’t hate it.
When I came back from Austin I started to research what would be the best way to get into running. Especially, for someone who had never run before…0% running happening here! I mean, I had a joke that if I was running you should be too! The only reason I would be running is if there were zombies, a natural disaster, murderers…you can see where I am going here.
So, I basically started from scratch. With a little help from the internet and a friend 🙂 who runs half marathons, I got a plan together with the goal of running a 5K.
To help myself achieve my goals for the year I decided that I needed to start tracking my habits. Now, as much as I like writing things down I needed to find a way to track my habits that was quick and easy. I didn’t want to have to carry around another notebook. I didn’t want to have to write anything out. And I didn’t want the process to be too time-consuming. So, I turned to my trusty iPhone to see what apps were available.
