Let’s dive deeper into what Ideal Protein is and how it helped me loose 100 lbs.
Ideal Protein is a weight loss method developed by Dr. Tran Tien Chang over the past 20 years. The protocol contains “2 key components – weight loss and a healthier lifestyle education to assist you in maintaining your results after dieting.”
To participate in the diet you have to find a local clinic near you. Once you identify a clinic, you have a coach that sticks with you throughout your journey (there is that word again!) You visit them once a week to weigh in, get measured, and purchase your protein packets. My clinic is Ideal Change and my lovely coach Holly has been there to help me in every way she can! Honestly, the great people who work at Ideal Change are one of the reasons I have stuck with the program.
Ideal Protein isn’t the cheapest program I have ever seen, but certainly not the most expensive either! I would label it as $$ out of $$$$.
The program consists of 4 phases:
Phase 1: Where you lose the weight
Phase 1 is the most strict and where you lose all the weight you wish to lose. During this phase, you eat 3 Ideal Protein packs, 4 cups of vegetables, and 8 ounces of lean protein per day. You can mix and match whenever you want to eat all of these things as long as you get it all in each day. Plus, you should drink 2 liters of water per day.
Phase 2: A 2-week transition
Phase 2 is a short transition phase to get your body ready to add restricted food back into your diet. You will add in more vegetables and lean protein in addition to 2 Ideal Protein packs and your 2 liters of water.
Phase 3: A 2-week stabilization
Phase 3 is about stabilizing your weight loss so you can keep the weight off successfully. Healthy fats and carbs will be added back in.
Phase 4: Forever maintenance
Phase 4, the fourth and final phase, is about learning how to maintain your weight loss and what is best to eat while adding different carbs, fats, and proteins back into your diet.
I am still on Phase 1 for now. I don’t really know how much weight I want to lose, but, I have always said whenever I feel comfortable I will stop. At this point, I have developed some really great habits that help me stick to the “strictness” of phase 1 and I am super happy with my progress!
